Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a complete system of medicine with principles that are based on the same basic physiology as Western Medicine. TCM and acupuncture have been practiced in China for more than 3,000 years so it is among the oldest healing practices in the world. Blood and oxygen (Qi) circulate in the blood vessels (meridians) and nourish the organs of the body.
In basic terms, acupuncture stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system and allows your sympathetic nervous system to turn off so your body can rest and heal. We use acupuncture points that are innervated by an abundant supply of nerves. Stimulating these points helps to increase blood flow, reduce inflammation, relieve pain, reduce stress and restore homeostasis.
